Science Week February 2018
Science week in Little Lions has been very exciting. Each day the children took part in a different experiment.
On Monday the children set up a colour experiment. They used food colouring and paper towels. They had to see if the colour moved from one cup to another. The children not only found out that the colours moved but that new colours were made.
On Tuesday the children made Rain Clouds. They used water, shaving foam and food colouring.
Matthew "Wow that's great!"
Matilda "I like watching the rain come".
On Wednesday the children watched as the colours changed. They used milk, food colouring and washing up liquid.
Darci " It's like the sun".
Eliza " All the colours have disappeared".
On Thursday the children made a volcano. They used playdough, food colouring, soda and vinegar.
Leticia "That's amazing!"
Reuben " All the lather is coming out".
This term Little Lions have been learning about the Gingerbreadman.
The children have been using their imagination to design and make their own boy or girl gingerbread. They all worked together to create a gingerbread house.
To help the children to understand the changes in materials the group baked gingerbread people. They measured out the ingredients, mixed it altogether and rolled the mixture out flat with rolling pins.
Throughout the term the children have been reading and retelling the story to their friends. They enjoyed using the key phrase ' Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbreadman'. Let's hope the Gingerbread men did not run away before they got to eat them!!
