Denton West End Primary School

Only our best is good enough

TRUSTEES (Governors)

The Trustee Board is a voluntary body of people who work collectively and tirelessly to promote high standards within the school. Trustees represent the various sectors of the school and local community. We are passionate about education and work to the same end to ensure the children at our school have the best education we can offer.

The Trustee Board has an extremely important role. It is responsible as a corporate body, not as individuals for:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

  • Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and

  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

As one of our trustees writes:

Being a Parent Trustee is a highly fulfilling and interesting role. You join together with a group of motivated, friendly and committed members to be the school's 'critical friend'; asking challenging questions to ensure the best outcomes for the children and staff in the school. I had no previous experience as a School Trustee, but was able to access training and support to give me confidence in the role. The other trustees are also very supportive! I have been invited into school for many events and to make class links with one of the year groups and their teacher to celebrate the learning and experiences taking place. It is a rewarding commitment and one I would recommend to all.

As Trustees, we invest a great deal of hard work and good will focusing on what really matters-providing the best education for every child at Denton West End Primary School. Trustees at our school are encouraged to fulfill their role through training, regular meetings and inclusion in school development days.

The trustee responsible for safeguarding is Mrs. C. Malpas.
