School Dinners
Catering at our school is supplied by Mellors who provide well balanced meals which are regularly updated to ensure they are appealing to children and meet the School Food Standards. We like to encourage all our pupils to have a school meal and enjoy a two course, healthy balanced meal every day in the company of their friends. Having a school meal encourages the children to use cutlery appropriately, have good manners, develop social skills and try new foods; including vegetables! The meal is excellent value for money.
If you pay for your child’s meal, please send the correct amount of money, in a sealed envelope, marked with your child’s name and class, on a Monday morning. Alternatively, you can pay by Parentmail or cheque made payable to Denton West End Primary School. The cost of a school meal is £2.60 per day. If you are on income support, your child may be entitled to free school meals. Parents are most welcome to visit school to try the lunches. We hold regular 'Come Dine with Me' experiences throughout the year when parents can join their child for a school lunch. We also have special menus at certain times in the year for example at Christmas, Easter, Spanish Day or Wimbledon where every child can join in and have a school lunch. Mellors are also able to cater for children with allergies or special dietary requirements.
Parents who wish their children to transfer from sandwiches to school meals must inform the class teacher or Receptionist and this will be arranged as soon as possible.
